Hello Again

For the last two years, I have dealt with chronic pain.  Most of the time, I tried to deal with it and push through, but I was not getting better.  In November, the pain was so intense that I had to resign my position as a middle school English teacher.  This is how I wanted to justify why I stopped writing my blog posts.

I caught myself as I was laying out what to write for my first blog post.  Suddenly I realized that the pain, having to quit my job, and all my responsibilities as a wife and mom were just excuses.  This is when I learned of a man named David Neenan.  He had several obstacles that tried to stop his success.  In his book “No Excuses”, he explains how he went through mistakes, failures, and troubles, but he didn’t make excuses.  He simply found a way to overcome whatever he was going through.  Even when he had an immune disorder, he sought and found a way to heal himself.

This is when I decided to stop my whining and complaining and start doing.  Even when I don’t feel good, I try to do something.  The excuse that I don’t feel good will seem pointless when I get to the end of my life and realize I have done nothing.  This thought is worse than the pain I feel or the lack of motivation I sometimes have to fight.

This is why I am getting up every day, no matter how I feel, and working on my personal development book, my blog, and building up the My Map to Success” personal development and image consulting business.  All these goals I have will not get done on their own.  If I do not work on them, then I will never achieve the success I desire.

Your Turn:

Really think and be honest about the following questions:  Do you get everything done you need to get done?  Is there anything goals that you are not working on because excuses are holding you back?  If there are, don’t worry.  Just eliminate the excuse and take action today.

Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.
