The Value of Coaching

In my life, coaching is a way of life. For the last twenty years, I have studied and coached others. In addition, I have seen my own coach and counselor. During some of my coaching, I learned skills that helped me to start eliminating my limiting beliefs. These beliefs where what really held me back from living my dream life.

Let me tell you, I am not perfect and my life has road bumps like everyone else. Yet, I will admit, for the first time in my life, that I am living my dream life. Nine times out of ten, I have a smile on my face. Everyday, I wake up and go to sleep appreciating everything I have.

Coaches are the ones that taught me this technique. Focusing on what we have instead of what we don’t have is vital. If I had not seen a coach or counselor, maybe I would be stuck thinking negative thoughts. Gratitude helps me start thinking about all the positives in my life instead of dwelling on all the negatives.

People need guides!

There are many terms for a coach and there are many different types of coaches. The need for a coach is based on your goals, strengths, weaknesses, areas where you feel stuck, and anything else that may need attention. In my opinion, everyone needs a coach but it is up to you what type you need.

Most of my life, I have chosen more of a social-emotional counselor but, as a female entrepreneur and writer, I make sure that I have my own personal development coach. This coach helps me get through the insecurities that I have that surround my business, and they help me set and achieve goals that are important to the direction I am going.

Coaches are not to take over and live your life. They should walk along side you trying to help you maneuver the obstacle course that we call life. This person may help you in the area of relationships, career, education, physical fitness and health, or just help you live a happy, fulfilling life. Whatever a coach does, it is only with your permission and the person should never go ahead of you. You are always in the driver seat.

If you are on your journey and you don’t know what direction to go, a coach should be there to point out the variety of options you may have and support you as you choose one that is right for you. Life can be difficult at times but you never need to go through these times alone. In addition, a coach should be there to celebrate the victories as well as help you get up after a failure.

Challenge: Think about what is really going well in your life. Give yourself a pat on the back. Write down all the things that are not going well. These are the ones where you feel frustrated and lost. Tell yourself everything will be find and go find a coach to help you get unstuck. You are worth the investment of a coach and worth the time to stop what your doing and utilize the coaches expertise.

If you need help finding the right coach for you, please feel free to ask. I have a place to sign up for a free coaching session. This is not an obligation to coach with me.
