He who reigns within himself and rules passions, desires, and fears is more than a king.
John Milton
There are a few ways that you can figure out what you are passion about. The best way is to answer the following questions. Be honest about what you really love to do. Don’t try to imitate someone else. If you are not a baker and you don’t like to bake, I would suggest that baking is not your passion.
Here are the questions that will help you find your passion. Some say it is easier to answer these questions while a friend is asking them. Find a friend that supports you in this endeavor. Others may try to change your answer, but the right friend will ask the question and then stay silent while you honestly answer.
- What would you do if you had all the time and money in the world?
- What makes you come alive?
- What do you do in life that is so easy it doesn’t seem like work?
- Where do you feel like you are in the flow or zone?
- What are events or tasks that make you happy? What can you not wait to do when you wake up?
Challenge: Answer the questions above. Once you have answered these questions think about, if it isn’t already, how you can make it into a career. Write it down, too. Once you write down your passion, it will help you put it into focus. Once you do that, you can start writing goals (which we will talk about at a later date).
If you are not able to do your passion as a career at this time, then at least do it as a hobby. A passion can keep you going, even if you are struggling with an unpleasant job. As you practice your passion, it will grow and make you happy.
The dreams and passions stored within hearts are powerful keys which can unlock a wealth of potential.
