There is a difference between active living and passive living. When you passively live, you let life happen to you and do not take active steps to living. Sometimes, things happen and we shrug our shoulders and say, “Well, what can I do, because life just happens.” This is not true and only creates more of the same. Standing still or laying down because something has happened and your frozen from fear and grief will not help you create that life you truly want.
Believe me, if you have read my blog long enough, you know that things have happened in my life that could have caused massive failure and stop my journey to success. I am no stronger, better, or different than anyone else. I fall and have to get back up too. The difference is that I have learned my lessons, and decided I am not going to passively live.
Through the last 45 years of my life, I have walked a journey that most would not want to walk, but I am excited that God chose me to walk this journey. Now, I can teach others how to actively pursue the dreams that God has given them. Above I talked about passivity and what it looks like, now I want to talk to you about the active life.
This means that you are actively pursuing your dreams. You are counteracting the things that negatively affect you and recreating the positive things that happen to you. For instance, a few years ago, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. It became a struggle to teach, which is one of my passions. Finally, I had to stop working and start finding a solution to my problem.
I actively pursued this solution. First, I realized that my negative thoughts and grief from loss of the past was becoming debilitating. There was a solution and I found it through affirmations and keeping pictures of the life God had put in my heart in front of me. This was through all my journals, vision boards, and reading positive articles and books that helped me overcome that negativity.
When one thing would not work for me, I would look for something else that would help. I started a personal development and coaching business, wrote and published a children’s book, and helped my son’s Boy Scout of America Troop. Through many of these activities, I began to heal and feel vibrant again. The truth is I feel more vibrant than ever before.
Now, I am back to teaching using the tools that God has given me and back in school working on my doctorate in educational leadership. This is a blessing that came through me actively pursuing the life I desired. Due to the fact that I am actively pursuing my desires, I am also helping others like my daughter, Snow, and clients who struggle with their own passivity.
What about you? Are you actively pursuing your dreams or are you stuck? There is a way to get unstuck and stop the passivity cycle. For some motivation, read my blogs, read the book that was written by me and illustrated by my daughter who has special needs, and find affirmations that work for you.
If you need help with any of this, please feel free to reach out for a free consultation. I am willing to work with anyone who needs help getting unstuck and creating a plan to actively create their life.
